"Kids Stuff"

What "kid" doesn't like fun additions to his/her room!?  It seems that I gravitate to things for girls.  I wonder if that is a consequence of not having any daughters.  Hmm.  I do have a fun playhouse under the stairs for the granddaughters, and there are dress-ups galore.  They have such a fun time when they visit.  Even the teenage boys get a kick out of it. I have so many cute pics of them, including all of the boys, dressed in satins and lace, hats and shoes to match. What a belly laugh!  Anyway, back to the business at hand.  I do have a couple of items in my current inventory that might appeal to moms and grandmas, and their cute daughters and granddaughters.
Call or text me @ 801-721-5666 if you see something you like!
Local shoppers (willing to drive to Ogden or meet in between) and cash only please.

Any little mommy and her baby would love to have this shabby chic rocker and cradle!
The rocker is so funky and old looking that I instantly feel in love with it, and the cradle started out as just a cute box that my sweet Gar put rockers on.  How fortunate that both pieces looked so much alike.  Some white paint, a little, well maybe a lot of sanding, cute quilted seat covers and I love the finished product.

Why "White Lilac Treasures"?

Why White Lilac you ask?  Well,  I always thought I would have a Bed and Breakfast called The White Lilac Inn.  It would be the cutest, white, vine covered, gingerbread house with a wrap-around porch. It would have shutters, not sure what color, maybe something as crazy as lavender. There would be white rocking chairs and chaise lounges with flowered covered cushions.  Small tables would be at each chair side for afternoon tea, lemonade and goodies.  It would have five or six steps up to the porch, white railing, or maybe lavender to match the shutters, and a white lilac bush on each side.  There would be lots of trees, one with a swing, a white picket fence and lawn to stroll on. Other comfy chairs would dot the lawns, and baskets of treats would be available for picnics under the trees.  Of course there would be a creek running through the property with a bridge leading to a large flower garden, roses, foxgloves, hollyhocks, hydrangeas, violets, daisies, and of course more lilacs to fill the eyes and nose with color and fragrance.

Then reality set in.  I seriously can't cook and the inside of  toilets and washing machines are kind of not my deal.  How's that for bursting the bubble.  So I kept my day job and my dream kind of went down the drain with the mop water at the White Lilac Inn.

Now that I have finally given up my day job, I find that creating "new stuff" from "other/old stuff", has become my passion and the "old" name for my "lost" passion has become the "new" name for my "new" passion.

So may I say "welcome" to my new passion, and you are always welcome at White Lilac Treasures.

Accessories

This is the section where I get to work on some of the odd ideas floating around in my head.  I hope you will indulge my eccentricities and hope you find something that appeals to you.

******************
This mirror took me forever to decide on the look I wanted, so it has been several colors.
This item is sold.  Thanks Kim!  $25
It ended up shiny black covering a doilie on the base.  This side is a jewelry hanger and...
the other side is a mirror!  It is on a turntable!  This was a huge collaboration with "the Gar".  We hooked two picture frames together and mounted them on the turntable, added a mirror and some wire and just see what we got!  Again, I design but he makes it work!  Gotta love him!
*************
This cute purple basket would a great addition to just about any room in your home!  How many uses can you think of!  Maybe books, magazines, afghans, boxes of tea, scarves, kids toys, flowers, loaves of bread...I think the possibilities just may be endless!
$35

I totally loved the shape and style of this basket.  I wanted it to be sunny and fun, so the purple with the sunflowers seemed a natural.  Then the doilie and the "shreds" of the inside fabric and organza ribbon dressed it right up.

Who woulda thunk?
Fireplace tool stands as umbrella stands.  I know, what am I thinking.  But you
know, it works.  Here are the first two, but there are a couple more in the works.  I hope you find one that is just your style.  Stay tuned.
The black stand is sold.  Thanks  $35 each (umbrellas not included)
The pictures don't do these justice.  The one on the left is antique bronze. The one on the right was originally brass but the black is much better.
This is a close up of the antique brass embellished with resin tassels that were given the same finish as the stand.
The black stand is sold,  Thanks!

Here is the bling that was added to the black stand.  Gotta love chains, crystals and jewels. Again, the pics just don't do them justice.
I love having an umbrella stand by my front door, maybe you would too.

Read all about it: I got a lot done this weekend, between the rain and wind that is.
Found some more great yard sales and again "the Gar" just shook his head.  Just kidding, I think he is finally getting into it, and several of the new items this time got "the Gar touch. So take a look.

I have been trying to figure out how to do the sign for this item. It started out as a plant stand and a cookie jar. I have version of this in my own home and the grandkids love it because it is just their size.
This item is sold.  Thanks Grandma Linda!!  $35
It's a pint size cookie jar! Actually it is a regular size cookie jar, and a pint size stand.
 It's just 22" high.
The saying is what sold me on the cookie jar I have. Is it the truth or what!  I am not happy with the wire that it is hanging from, and will be changing it, probably for some copper chain or cute ribbon.  My version had the saying on the cookie jar, but it is hard to see with it in the stand so I liked this better.
Well I tried and tried, but there was just no good way to "hang" the sign, so I bent it to the shape of the cookie jar stand and glued it on!!  Gotta love E6000 glue.  Then I clamped it in place over night and I like it soooooo much better!  See the finished product below.

Who doesn't like a magazine holder, that is, to hold afghans, towels or if you must, magazines.
$20 SOLD
This poor baby was missing it's carrying dowel and it's center divider.  So...of course this became a job for "the Gar".  He added a dowel, and...
We left out the divider and I added the white antique finish and the flowers.
I have to say, I love it for afghans.
Measures 17" W, 15"H, 10"D
****************
Since the weather finally cooperated the last few days, I can finally at least add one new item!  Yea!
Of course I forgot to take a before photo, but this started out life as a country blue wall shelf.  It had a dowel for paper towels and was quite cute as it was, BUT, of course I couldn't leave it like that.  So I turned it upside down, painted it white, added some bright scrapbook paper and a different dowel for hanging ribbon.  (well "the Gar" actually did that part).  What would I do without him? Got to love the guy!  Now it is a table top gift wrap center, how perfect!  It comes with the ribbon, scissors and a roll of tape to get you started.

$20

Measures 15 1/2"W, 16"H, 5 1/2"D

Feathered and Fancy!
$20

This next item is not so odd, but it is cute and useful.  This jewelry hanger has a mirror, a wire mesh area for earrings, two cute pink acrylic butterflies to hang your necklaces on and a high gloss pink finish. It measures 9"x20"

$32  SOLD

Garden

Here I hope you will find some fun garden items.  After all, the garden needs jewels too, right?
You can text or call me if you find something you need!  801-721-5666

Class is for the birds!!
This item is sold.  Thanks Kim!!  $35
Seriously, how classy is this birdbath?  You will attract only the most select birds with this in your garden?  OKAY, I am crazy, but we knew that already..lol!
I bought the plant stand at a garage sale, changed the color from green to black and added the flowers. Then...

added the light fixture cover.  The "parts" from the cover were glued to cover the hole and painted black. The stand and bowl are not attached to each other, but it makes it easy to move and store. I have not had a problem with mine. I have a similar one in my garden.  So fun!!

*************
This utility step has a new utilitarian use.  Garden accessory!  Originally I was going to use this in the workshop/playhouse that my sweet husband is building for me. (reality is that he wants his garage back)  Then the voices started again and now it is going to be a star in the garden!
$30(accessories not included)
Yuk!
Much better!
Awesome! And it was going to be hidden in a workshop!  How sad would that have been?
************
Ah, yes, another sewing machine cabinet that dreamed of being a potting bench!
Here is the latest potting table and probably the last one for this season.  Again, very different from the others, but so bright and cheery.  I ended up rolling and hand painting it because of all the different colors.  Time consuming, but kind of fun and it gave my mind time to wander...my favorite pastime! It got dressed up with pastel scrapbook paper and if you don't mind the "rustic" finish, it could be used indoors as a desk, planter or....hey whatever!
$65
This was taken under my River Birch tree. Looks almost like I want to keep it.  Just kidding.  I just hung the garden tools for fun, but there is storage inside for them and they are included.  The watering can is also included, and I think you can see it better in the next pic.
If you don't want to pot your own plants, how cute to use as a planter with already potted plants.
A view of the top.
This is a closeup of the front. What could be better than cheerful acrylic butterflies for utility use or just for looks?
And a side view.  Just a very fun piece, to create and to use.
*****************
I decided to leave this next chair kind of "as is".  I thought it would fun in the garden and just look how great it looks!  It was a little rickety, but with a little work it is now very sturdy.  I sanded some rough spots, added a little more paint and a clear coat for protection.  Then I lucked out and found the perfect pot, had "the Gar" cut a hole in the seat, painted the pot red and white and just like magic, a new garden planter!  Well almost like magic.
$35 This item is sold

Another thing I may be tempted to keep.
***************
PLANTER or BIRDBATH?
I keep seeing similar items to this next one in all of the decorating magazines, so I decided to try it.
I already had the perfect chair, so here we go.
$35
I was going to just restore the chair, but this alternative seemed like a fun thing to do.
Viola! What a nice addition to your garden.  It does need a plant, but it's a death sentence for the plants for me to have them in pots at my house, so you'll have to use your imagination, sorry!
OK, so I was feeling bad not showing the best views of the planter, so I bought a plant.  I have to say that it does show much better this way, and I will do my best to keep them alive.
I knew I would never find anything to "automatically" fit the opening in the chair so I hit the thrift stores for the perfect pot and found this old enamel pan.  So awesome!  It's kind of like the round peg in the square hole, but I loved it.  Actually I loved it so much I couldn't bear having it hidden, so I pleaded with "the Gar" to add some blocks of wood to keep it up so it could be seen.
This shows off the pot much better
With the addition of the seed packet labels, it is ready for the garden.
*************
I finally have another potting table.  Very different from the first one I did, but as they say, variety is the spice of life, right?  This was a serious collaboration with my Gar.
$65
Who "woulda thunk" that an old sewing machine cabinet was really a potting table in disguise!?
With a little white paint, a yellow glaze, lots of spackle, added pictures on the front and top, how divine.  The side piece was actually part of three pieces of old barn wood that were hinged together.
Gar took them apart and added one section to the side so when the table is open it is stable.
This is how the side piece hooks to the table.  Very rustic.
The top.  Very shabby chic.
The tray is removable so extra potting soil can be dumped back into the bag.
When the tray is removed, there is storage underneath for tools, gloves, spray bottle and body spritz, (how refreshing)! All included.

***********
This is one of my favorites.
It is the cutest potting table ever...well at least for now, I have others in the works.
You don't even need to worry about getting it dirty, it already looks like it has been in the barn for  years.  It is white with green and purple showing through the paint and spackle
This item is sold!  Thanks Sue  $65

*********
This garden tote was rescued and shabby "chic-ed" pink, but you can still see other layers of paint.  I added some Anne Geddes cutouts from some old cards.  Now who can resist these cute faces!  I have filled it with garden tools, gloves and body spritz,  you have to stay fresh while you garden...right?  It is shrink wrapped and just waiting to be given to the gardener in your life.
$25

***********
Yea for me!  I actually thought to take a before photo of this next project.  Let me show you how it started out.  The stool was really rough, weathered wood and the bowl is a big, enamel over metal
salad (?) bowl.  I loved the bright colors on the bowl. I didn't sand or fill in any imperfections on the stool and where the paint didn't stick, I just left it.  I did add a clear finish to protect from the elements, but it is still pretty weathered.
I bought the pieces originally to attach together to make a bird bath (and I still think that is a good idea), but then the voices in my head started whispering...ice and drinks, ice and drinks. Well now, I do believe that is a great idea too! How clever at your next patio party to fill it, of course, with ice and  drinks?
So, ta da, see below how it turned out!
$35  This item is sold
Bowl measures 15 1/2" in diameter.
Measures 29" high.
