Yea for Christmas

I Love Christmas!!!!  Today I sold some of my darling, if I may say so myself, furniture for some very deserving little "mamas".  This will be the first furniture for one little "mommy" and the finishing touches on a playhouse for three others.  A month or so ago, I sold a kitchen set to an old friend's daughter for her little ones.  Who would have ever thought she would grow up and be a mom already...she was just a baby when we met!  What a fun Christmas morning!  This is why I do it and it makes me happy!  I hope they love them as much as I loved doing them!

To see all the furniture, garden decor, accessories, and kids stuff, please go to May's blogs and choose the section you want to view.

Just in time for Christmas

I have had such a great weekend!

On Saturday, we had our annual tea party.  Affectionately called "The Tea Party".  This is a tradition that we started 16 years ago with the three sisters and our niece.  Over the years we have added three daughters-in-law and we are still going strong!  In order to be a "member", you have to either be born or marry into the Joe and Joy Oviatt family.  It is a gathering that we all look forward to every year.  It is always held on the first or second Saturday in November and for us it is the official start of the holiday season.  We have traditional tea sandwiches, tea, hot chocolate, cider and yummy desserts. It is fun sometimes to the point of hysteria, emotional, heartwarming, and brings us all closer together as time passes.  The official motto is just like Vegas...what happens at the tea party stays at the tea party, and no "boys" allowed!  And believe it or not the men in our lives respect this day as much as we do.  It is just so much fun, I can't even explain it.  Everyone should have a TEA PARTY!

Then.. on Sunday, I got some fun items done just in time for Christmas for the little "mommies" in your life!

To see these items, go to May's blogs and choose "Kids Stuff".

My workshop

I have the cutest workshop in the world.  My Gar worked on it all summer and made it perfect!
It looks like every girl's dream cottage complete with scroll work and a little patio. Here are some pictures from the process.

I missed pictures of the "cement" part, but my husband and my two sons worked so hard in the very hot sun!  Then came the framing....

Then the siding...

The wrokbench went in about this point.

The paint....

and the decorations!

How lucky am I?  ...and if this fruniture refinishing doesn't work out...the perfect playhouse for me!!

New "Kids Stuff" items just in time for Christmas shopping!

I just added a couple of items to "Kids Stuff" just in time for Christmas.  A darling, and very different rocking chair and a matching cradle.  Lullabies to be sung!  I would have loved these when I was young and I am sure my "babies" would have loved them too!

I have decided to concentrate on the children's items I have waiting to be addressed, in the hope they will find a home for Christmas!

Take a look and check back often!

Go to May's blogs and click on "Kids Stuff".

Post Boutique Ramble

Well, the "Three Sisters and Their Friends Boutique" is over.  What a fun time we had.  We had most of last years' participants and a few awesome newcomers that we hope will join us again.  We are thinking about doing another before Mother's Day.  I think most did pretty well and we had some really varied and great items for sale. We had aprons, jams and relish, goodies, tutus, furniture, purses, jewels, jeans, stuffed pumpkins, hair accessories, baby clothes, hand crocheted hats, hand knitted alpaca sweaters, handcrafted birdhouses and toys'', children's books, Scentsy, and a bunch of odds and ends. We have a lot of very talented people around here!

I think we made some new friends, and I hope they will join us again.

So, keep watching for updates for our next event,  we would love to see you there!

Love,

Grammy C

Don't forget to check out items I still have for sale.  Just go to "May's" blog, scroll down and check out the "Kids stuff", Furniture, Garden and Accessories.  You may just find something you need to have!

August Already!

Where did July go?  I think I missed it, it went by so quickly.  We have been busy at our house.  The Gar is building me a shop (I think I mentioned before, he wants his garage back).  I have been taking pics of the progress and I will post them when it is done.   I have also been busy getting items ready for a boutique my sisters, nieces, granddaughter and friends are having on the 10th of September.  We have lots of stuff to sell, from tasty jams to jewelry, to aprons, to home, garden and wall decor, to hats and hair accessories.  If you are interested in coming, call 801-721-5666 or email caleenpetersonrtr@gmail.com for details.  We would love to have you!

I am adding a couple of new items today.  I will add them as usual to the May blogs since I still don't know any better and I like keeping them together.  So click on May and look at new items under Furniture.

Right now we are visiting Sun Valley and I have not taken even one pic to share.  But I can tell you it is as awesome and gorgeous as you would expect, and we met and talked to Scott Hamilton for a few minutes!  What a nice guy!

Have a great week!

Love,
Grammy

Happy 4th of July!

I hope everyone had a fun 4th, I know I did.  We took a trip with some of the kids and grand kids to Lava Hot Spring in Idaho and I have to say it was a blast!  I am so proud, I did my very first water slide!  Loved, loved it!  Who knew!  The hot pots were very relaxing and while Gary and I did not float the river, we made a good taxi service and the kids had an incredible amount of fun in spite of all the cuts and bruises.  Lots of fun stories to tell their friends.

So then it was back to creating!  Got a few more things ready to share.

Some "Kids Stuff", a couple of '"Garden" additions, a couple of "Furniture" items and, an addition to "Accessories".  I hope you see something you like.

The best way to see new items it to click on May's blogs and pick the category you want to see.

Love,

Grammy

Seriously, how blessed am I?

Again I feel the need to ramble for a few minutes about how lucky I am, and share some thoughts on our awesome family.
Our kids and spouses are Troy and Bonnie, Tawna and Todd, Todd, Tami and Tony, Brady, and Corey and Lara.
This week our grandson in waiting made his entrance.  He had a shaky start, but all is well.  Baby Sam was born on June 29th (our wedding anniversary) and rounds out the current "flock" of grandchildren.  They range in age from 17 years to 4 days.  I can't even contain myself, I am beyond happy!
The oldest is Logan, then Austin, Skyler, Megan, Bree, Connor, Brynn, Tanner, Cassidy (our angel baby), Kobe, Anna, Scottie, Grayson, and Sam.  Also we have Hayley, Emily and Carter who we don't get to see as often.
Now seriously, what else could we ask for except that they all continue to be happy and healthy!
Every time a new baby comes, it makes me stop and think just how wonderful life is, and how thankful I am to be living it!
Thanks for letting me share these thoughts!
Love,
Grammy (and Grandpa Gar)

New Garden "Stuff"

OK, I am a day late getting these posted.  I didn't get as much done as I planned.  Very windy and spray paint was landing on me more than on the furniture!  What a pain!  So much furniture, so little good weather.  I hope you enjoy the new things.  This is the last potting table and planter I think I will do this year, stay tuned for other new items for your home.

The easiest way to see the new items is to go to May's blogs and click on "Garden".
Be sure to check out the "older posts" to see the furniture section.

In case I don't get a chance to add more before the holiday!
Have a dandy Fourth of July!

Grammy

Fairy In The Garden

After spending much of the day on Saturday sanding and  painting, I decided to take a break on the patio and enjoy the view.  A couple of weeks ago I placed one of my ceramic fairies underneath the birdbath that has a clematis vine growing on it.  Amazing, but as the vine started growing and bending, a couple of the flowers had bent so they looked like fairy was taking time to "smell the roses", so to speak.  Seriously, this was not staged!  I could not have done it better if I had tried to. Of course this was a great photo op!  ...and I thought it needed sharing.  So I am.  Enjoy!

I was able to get  few new items done this weekend, and I will get them posted tomorrow.  Some furniture and garden pieces that just need photos.

I hope everyone has a fantastic week!

LOVE,

Grammy

Yea for good weather! New fun items!

Yea for good weather!  The weather finally cooperated long enough to get a couple of things done. I get really excited when I finally get something finished! There are so many projects in different stages of "finished", like, sanded, just needs knobs, still can't find the right hardware, etc., just hanging out in the garage and on the patio waiting for attention.  ANYWAY, check out the "Accessories" and "Garden" sections for new items.  Call or text if you see something you need.

What a Perfect Weekend!

I just needed to share some thoughts on my awesome weekend, so I hope you will grant me this ramble! The weather finally cooperated!  Yard sales!  Yea! ...and finally some painting got done!  So many projects have been waiting for this!
Saturday was the best for yard sales. I found several furniture items, some darling lamps, a wonderful tray, an old white vase that was marked 20 cents but the owner said that was probably the price from the fifties and got a dollar out of me. Oh well, it is cute.
But the time spent with my sister Laurie was the best part.  (she is a good cook and baker and usually has cookies) We become kids again and have the best time.  The only thing missing from the perfect sister day was our other sister Kerry who was hosting a yard sale with her daughter Shawny.  Since we are all looking for different things when we shop together there isn't usually that much competition, well mostly.  These are the times that add years to my life because laughter really is the best medicine, and our cheeks usually are cramping when we part.
Later on Saturday we had our kids Todd and Tawna and our grandson Scotty come and spend the night from Saint George.  They are a lot of fun and it is good to catch up.  Just as they were leaving our kids Corey and Lara and grandson Grayson came up from Salt Lake so we could paint a dresser for "Baby Sam" who is soon to arrive.
Now what is better than that kind of weekend!?
Tomorrow, weather permitting, I will get some more painting done, add some items to the blog, and my cute husband will put "the Gar" touch on some of Saturday's finds!  I love my life!

"Kids Stuff"

What "kid" doesn't like fun additions to his/her room!?  It seems that I gravitate to things for girls.  I wonder if that is a consequence of not having any daughters.  Hmm.  I do have a fun playhouse under the stairs for the granddaughters, and there are dress-ups galore.  They have such a fun time when they visit.  Even the teenage boys get a kick out of it. I have so many cute pics of them, including all of the boys, dressed in satins and lace, hats and shoes to match. What a belly laugh!  Anyway, back to the business at hand.  I do have a couple of items in my current inventory that might appeal to moms and grandmas, and their cute daughters and granddaughters.
Call or text me @ 801-721-5666 if you see something you like!
Local shoppers (willing to drive to Ogden or meet in between) and cash only please.

Why "White Lilac Treasures"?

Why White Lilac you ask?  Well,  I always thought I would have a Bed and Breakfast called The White Lilac Inn.  It would be the cutest, white, vine covered, gingerbread house with a wrap-around porch. It would have shutters, not sure what color, maybe something as crazy as lavender. There would be white rocking chairs and chaise lounges with flowered covered cushions.  Small tables would be at each chair side for afternoon tea, lemonade and goodies.  It would have five or six steps up to the porch, white railing, or maybe lavender to match the shutters, and a white lilac bush on each side.  There would be lots of trees, one with a swing, a white picket fence and lawn to stroll on. Other comfy chairs would dot the lawns, and baskets of treats would be available for picnics under the trees.  Of course there would be a creek running through the property with a bridge leading to a large flower garden, roses, foxgloves, hollyhocks, hydrangeas, violets, daisies, and of course more lilacs to fill the eyes and nose with color and fragrance.

Then reality set in.  I seriously can't cook and the inside of  toilets and washing machines are kind of not my deal.  How's that for bursting the bubble.  So I kept my day job and my dream kind of went down the drain with the mop water at the White Lilac Inn.

Now that I have finally given up my day job, I find that creating "new stuff" from "other/old stuff", has become my passion and the "old" name for my "lost" passion has become the "new" name for my "new" passion.

So may I say "welcome" to my new passion, and you are always welcome at White Lilac Treasures.

Accessories

This is the section where I get to work on some of the odd ideas floating around in my head.  I hope you will indulge my eccentricities and hope you find something that appeals to you.

******************
This mirror took me forever to decide on the look I wanted, so it has been several colors.
This item is sold.  Thanks Kim!  $25
It ended up shiny black covering a doilie on the base.  This side is a jewelry hanger and...
the other side is a mirror!  It is on a turntable!  This was a huge collaboration with "the Gar".  We hooked two picture frames together and mounted them on the turntable, added a mirror and some wire and just see what we got!  Again, I design but he makes it work!  Gotta love him!
*************
This cute purple basket would a great addition to just about any room in your home!  How many uses can you think of!  Maybe books, magazines, afghans, boxes of tea, scarves, kids toys, flowers, loaves of bread...I think the possibilities just may be endless!
$35

I totally loved the shape and style of this basket.  I wanted it to be sunny and fun, so the purple with the sunflowers seemed a natural.  Then the doilie and the "shreds" of the inside fabric and organza ribbon dressed it right up.

*********
Who woulda thunk?
Fireplace tool stands as umbrella stands.  I know, what am I thinking.  But you
know, it works.  Here are the first two, but there are a couple more in the works.  I hope you find one that is just your style.  Stay tuned.
The black stand is sold.  Thanks  $35 each (umbrellas not included)
The pictures don't do these justice.  The one on the left is antique bronze. The one on the right was originally brass but the black is much better.
This is a close up of the antique brass embellished with resin tassels that were given the same finish as the stand.
The black stand is sold,  Thanks!

Here is the bling that was added to the black stand.  Gotta love chains, crystals and jewels. Again, the pics just don't do them justice.
I love having an umbrella stand by my front door, maybe you would too.

**************
Read all about it: I got a lot done this weekend, between the rain and wind that is.
Found some more great yard sales and again "the Gar" just shook his head.  Just kidding, I think he is finally getting into it, and several of the new items this time got "the Gar touch. So take a look.
**************

I have been trying to figure out how to do the sign for this item. It started out as a plant stand and a cookie jar. I have version of this in my own home and the grandkids love it because it is just their size.
This item is sold.  Thanks Grandma Linda!!  $35
It's a pint size cookie jar! Actually it is a regular size cookie jar, and a pint size stand.
 It's just 22" high.
The saying is what sold me on the cookie jar I have. Is it the truth or what!  I am not happy with the wire that it is hanging from, and will be changing it, probably for some copper chain or cute ribbon.  My version had the saying on the cookie jar, but it is hard to see with it in the stand so I liked this better.
Well I tried and tried, but there was just no good way to "hang" the sign, so I bent it to the shape of the cookie jar stand and glued it on!!  Gotta love E6000 glue.  Then I clamped it in place over night and I like it soooooo much better!  See the finished product below.

****************
Who doesn't like a magazine holder, that is, to hold afghans, towels or if you must, magazines.
$20 SOLD
This poor baby was missing it's carrying dowel and it's center divider.  So...of course this became a job for "the Gar".  He added a dowel, and...
We left out the divider and I added the white antique finish and the flowers.
I have to say, I love it for afghans.
Measures 17" W, 15"H, 10"D
****************
Since the weather finally cooperated the last few days, I can finally at least add one new item!  Yea!
Of course I forgot to take a before photo, but this started out life as a country blue wall shelf.  It had a dowel for paper towels and was quite cute as it was, BUT, of course I couldn't leave it like that.  So I turned it upside down, painted it white, added some bright scrapbook paper and a different dowel for hanging ribbon.  (well "the Gar" actually did that part).  What would I do without him? Got to love the guy!  Now it is a table top gift wrap center, how perfect!  It comes with the ribbon, scissors and a roll of tape to get you started.

$20

Measures 15 1/2"W, 16"H, 5 1/2"D
*************
Feathered and Fancy!
$20

**************
This next item is not so odd, but it is cute and useful.  This jewelry hanger has a mirror, a wire mesh area for earrings, two cute pink acrylic butterflies to hang your necklaces on and a high gloss pink finish. It measures 9"x20"

$32  SOLD
